Pima Butte Elementary School held its very first fundraising assembly Wednesday morning. From now through Friday, November 11, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors and friends will have the opportunity to purchase QSP / Reader’s Digest items while helping to raise funds for their child’s school.

Primary students listened carefully to the rules for selling fundraising items.

John Coburn, field sales manager for QSP, was at the assembly to tell the students how the program works, what prizes they can earn and to teach them the two major rules for the fundraiser.

“If you want to get in the game and be a winner, you have to know the rules,” said Coburn. “The first rule is this. Only participate with mom and dad’s permission. The second rule is only talk to people you know.” He then had the students repeat these rules several times.

The Mustangs from Pima Butte will be selling from three catalogs, the Home and Gift Collection, the World’s Finest Chocolate Collection and the Ambiance Specialty Gift Collection. All orders will arrive in time for the holidays, and 50% of the profits go directly to Pima Butte. Orders can also by placed online at www.QSP.com.

In the “Together We Can Prize Program,” students can win candy, light-up pens, digital cameras, CD players, giant working poster phones, grab-it machines, radios, cold drink machines and even 13 inch color TV / DVD players.

Some of the many prizes students can win for their sales.

According to Principal Janelle Lowey, there are three priorities for monies received. “We want every teacher to have an overhead projector and a listening center. We also want to have bulletin boards up and down the hallways to display our students’ projects.”
