Playful bullmastiff needs a family

59

Great strength, endurance and alertness are several traits common to the bullmastiff.

The bullmastiff is a natural guardian of the home; the breed was developed in the late nineteenth century by crossing the mastiff with the bulldog.

The goal of this interbreeding was to combine the traits of the mastif: power speed and a keen sense of smell, with the traits of the bulldog: courage and aggression.

The experiment was a success, and by 1924 this new breed of dog was standardized and officially recognized.

Now one of these dogs is available for adoption.

Sampson is a playful dog.

That dog is Sampson.

Sampson is an 11-month-old dog, with loads of energy easily channeled to the right outlets for a pup.

Shanna Kerr of Arizona Animal Assistance said this boy is strong and will need a family who is either experienced with what it means to own a giant baby, or one excited to learn to love it and all of the ups and downs.

Sampson is a good boy who is friendly and amicable, well socialized, he would do fine as a ‘first bully’ for a new family, and he would also be an easy addition for a current giant dog home that had the time to work on exercising and training a puppy, she said.

This guy needs lots of attention, he is a big baby and total cuddle dog, he will demand to be a part of the family, and he needs regular walks to keep him in a routine and expending positive energy.

Sam is just a clown that needs a home that will commit to the demands of a bully youngster.

Sampson is neutered and current on all vaccines. He will be microchipped before adoption. His new owner will have to pass a home visit and pay an adoption fee.

Fully grown, a bullmastiff is between 90 and 130 pounds and stands about 27 inches tall.

This breed is typically loving, courageous and tolerant of children.
