Maricopa police patrol officers chased and arrested three minors in a stolen vehicle yesterday afternoon in an area near several schools.

No one was injured.

Police spokesperson Monica Williams said MPD received a Flock camera alert just after 2:30 p.m. about a 2015 Hyundai Elantra moving west on Honeycutt Road at Hartman Road. Flock cameras take photos of vehicle license plates and alert police about stolen vehicles.

Officers said they located the vehicle at Honeycutt and Porter Roads and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver instead sped away, fleeing south on Porter Road.

Officers tracked the vehicle to an access road that runs east and west between Shea Way and Stonegate Road.

While trying to pass a truck in the roadway, the Hyundai driver struck a curb, disabling the vehicle. All three suspects then fled the vehicle on foot and were later apprehended, police said.

The suspects were all juveniles and not identified because of their ages, Williams said.

MPD did not release charges against the minors arrested.

  1. This is non sense: The suspects were all juveniles and not identified because of their ages, Williams said. MPD did not release charges against the minors arrested.

Florida Sheriff Grady Judd shows the pictures of minors and their charges when they break the law. No reason to protect these “minors” from embarrassment or give them special treatment. Maybe it will have a positive effect on future decisions.
