Police launched an investigation after a teacher allegedly assaulted a student at a local school last week.

According to the Maricopa Police Department, a teacher at Sequoia Pathway Academy allegedly grabbed a male student by the wrist and pulled him at the school around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

The school administration passed its internal investigation along to its school resource officer, a sworn law-enforcement officer with arrest powers, cops said.

The student’s parent reported the incident to police, according to MPD. The department did not specify the student’s grade. Sequoia Pathway is a K-12 school.

There has been no arrest nor charges filed at this time.

School officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
