Maricopa police tased a 49-year-old Maricopa man and lodged six criminal charges against him after they say he threatened two people with a knife, then beat up one of them.

Diaw Abdourahmane was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence aggravated assault, two counts of disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence assault and misconduct involving a weapon, according to police documents.

A probable cause report from police states police were dispatched to West Robbins Drive just before 2 p.m. Saturday on a report of a man threatening two victims with a knife.

Officers arrived and ordered Abdourahmane to turn around and get on the ground several times before tasing him.

A victim at the home told police she was there with her boyfriend when Abdourahmane told the boyfriend to leave. After he refused to leave, Abdourahmane left and returned with a knife, holding it in a threatening manner and demanding he leave, police said. The boyfriend, “fearing he would be stabbed,” left the home.

Abdourahmane then went to the victim’s room, hitting her in the head with an open hand, then pushed her onto the bed and hit her in the back with a closed fist, police said.

During the struggle, the victim said her left pinky nail was bent back and ripped off her finger, according to police.

Abdourahmane faces up to 30 years in prison for the two counts of aggravated assault. He faces an additional year for the two disorderly conduct charges and 30 days and a $2,500 fine for the domestic violence assault. He faces two to eight years for the misconduct charge involving a weapon.
