Most poll takers nix going to Ram football games

Football season is nearly here with Maricopa High School’s varsity football team set to play its first game in Tempe Aug. 30. The team got as far as the playoffs last year, and coach Cory Nenaber said he has high hopes this fall because all his receivers and most of his lineman are returning.

And, Maricopa mother Merry Grace has started to drum up support for school spirit through an op-ed piece she wrote asking residents and businesses to show their Ram Pride. InMaricopa.com Facebook friends have chimed in to back her efforts.

However, the going may be tough as 65 percent of 255 readers to an InMaricopa.com poll asking the question “Will you be attending any Maricopa High School football games this season? said “No.”

Twenty-four percent sounded a “Yes” to going to games and another 12 percent said they “Have not decided.”
