Holiday music will fill the air Dec. 10 when Maricopa Music Circle chamber orchestra and the Maricopa Chorus combine for “Tunes & Toasts Holiday Musicale,” a holiday-music concert at 7 p.m. at Honeycutt Café.

Seating begins at 6:15 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 to general public, $5 for students.

The show, a Maricopa holiday-season staple, reunites Maricopa Music Circle and Maricopa Chorus bringing a plethora of holiday tunes to the cozy atmosphere. Food and beverages will be available from the café’s menu.

The hour-long concert will be filled with holiday favorites, including “The First Noël,” “Mary Did You Know?” “White Christmas,” “Hanukkah Suite” and a specially arranged medley of “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”

“This holiday tradition of our joint performance goes back at least to 2015,” said Laura Olivieri, the associate coordinator and violist for Maricopa Music Circle. “We have always performed without a conductor and this year the Maricopa Chorus is doing the same.”

Maricopa Chorus will perform both a cappella  and with orchestral accompaniment. The song list includes favorites, such as “Adeste fidelis,” “Silent Night,” and the Hallelujah Chorus, a Maricopa tradition to round out the performance.

“Guests should bring their singing voices and be ready to join in for the Hallelujah Chorus at the end, which is a sing-along,” Olivieri said. “We hope the event sends them home with some good cheer and great feelings for a wonderful Maricopa holiday season.”

MMC, in its 13th season, performs orchestral music and popular favorites entirely without a conductor. Its instrumentation morphs regularly as new performers come onboard, this season encouraging a rich and colorful sound from several new performers.

MMC is the city’s premier chamber orchestra, featuring local musicians sharing their artistry and love of music. It has performed throughout the area, including Maricopa City Hall and Ultrastar Ak-Chin. All arrangements are specially adapted for MMC.

The Maricopa Chorus launched in 2013 under the direction of founder John Janzen and performed for two seasons under director Don Raflik. It, too, continues songs of the season without a conductor, showing true dedication to traditional holiday choral music.  Look for Maricopa Chorus performances, with members dressed in unique period costumes, throughout the city during the Christmas season.
