In Pinal County, the sheriff’s race will now be between Maricopa resident Democrat Kevin Taylo, Republican incumbent Paul Babeu, of San Tan Valley, and independent Ty Morgan, of San Tan Valley in the Nov. 6 general election.

On the Democratic side, Taylor received 54.53 percent of the votes while Glenn Millsaps received 42.57 percent in Tuesday's primary.

• Derek Arnson, San Tan Valley, 7.6 percent of the vote.

Democrat Orlenda F. Roberts of Casa Grande will seek re-election for Pinal County Superintendent against Republican Jill Broussard, of San Tan Valley, who received 72.65 percent of the vote, defeating local candidate Anthony Gonzales, who received 27.05 percent of the vote.

Republican Douglas Wolf, of San Tan Valley, received 62.9 percent of the vote and will square off against Democrat Randy Robbins, of Casa Grande, in November for the county assessor’s seat.

Lando Voyles, a Maricopa resident, is running against James P. Walsh, of Oracle, for county attorney and Barbara Kelley of Florence will face off against Republican Virginia Ross of San Tan Valley for county recorder.

On a national level, the unofficial results show Republican Jeff Flake of Mesa will run for the United States Senate against Democrat Richard Carmona of Tucson.

Flake defeated three other candidates in the race, garnering 64.32 percent of the votes. The other candidates received:

• Wil Cardon, Mesa, 26.12 percent of the vote.
• Bryan Hackbrath, Youngtown, 4.06 percent of the vote.
• Clair Van Steenwyk, Buckeye, 5.31 percent of the vote.

In the lower house, the Congressional District 1 race is now between Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, of Flagstaff, who received 72.63 percent of the vote and defeated Wenona Benally Baldenegro, also of Flagstaff, who received 27.06 percent.

Kirkpatrick will face off against Republican candidate Jonathan Paton, of Marana, who garnered 60.51 percent of the vote and defeated two other Republican candidates.

On a state level, there was no primary for the open State Senate District 11 seat, for which Democrat Jo Holt is facing Republican Al Melvin in the fall general election.

The race for the two District 11 State House of Representatives seats will be between Democrat Dave Joseph and Republicans Steve Smith, of Maricopa, and Adam Kwasman.

The Republican Corporation Commission race is close enough that provisional ballots and other ballots that have yet to be counted could still change the outcome for one of the three candidates.

Susan Bitter Smith received 10,932 votes — 33.8 percent — but Bob Stump followed closely behind her with 10,703 votes, or 33.17 percent. Bob Burns is still in the race, having garnered 10,492 votes, or 32.52 percent.

The Democratic corporation commissioner race was a little less close, but could still change once every ballot is counted.

Sandra Kennedy has a lead with 36.74 percent of the vote, or 8,503 votes but Paul Newman received 7,590 votes, or 32.79 percent. Marcia Busching got 6,928 votes, or 29.93.

Provisional ballots and other ballots still need to be tallied so some results may change.
