PTO golf tourney raises 20K

Nearly $20,000 was raised in the first Duel in the Desert Golf Tournament at The Duke at Rancho El Dorado golf course Saturday.

Eighteen foursomes participated in the event to benefit Parent Teacher Organizations from Maricopa Wells Middle School, Santa Cruz Elementary School and Maricopa Elementary School.

PTO organizers said they plan to hold the event again next year.

“We hope to make this event more district wide next year,” said Middle School PTO President Trecia Estes.

The winners of the golf tournament are as follows:

1st Place: Score 58 – Global Water Team – Robin Bain, Doug Bain, Taylor Werner, Shawn Bradford
2nd Place: Score 60 – Barry Huth, Bret Huth, Ian Selbay, Greg Parker
3nd Place: Score 60 – Randy Savoy, Dwight Fujimoto, Joe Estes, Jared Estes
(Toughest hole broke the tie.)
Longest Put: Pete Clutter
Longest Drive: James Cadena
Closest to the Pin: James Cadena
Shortest Drive: Dan Ashton
