Public briefing scheduled on countywide Transit Feasibility Study

54

Pinal County will host public briefings in Maricopa, Casa Grande and Kearny to present the findings and recommendations from the Transit Feasibility Study.

The briefings are from 6 pm to 8 pm with a Maricopa presentation at 6:15 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the board room of the Maricopa Unified School District Office, 44150 West Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.

“The research for this important study has been ongoing since December 2008,” said David Maestas, project manager for the study. “We’ve taken an in-depth look at transit needs today in the region and explored ways to create, administer and sustain a transit system in the future,” Maestas explained.

“Even though growth has slowed down with the sluggish economy, most economists predict that Pinal County will see significant growth between now and 2025. Our current population of 362,000 is expected to grow to approximately one million during that time,” Maestas said, citing forecast and modeling data from the Central Arizona Association of Governments and Maricopa Association of Governments.

Additional information on this study and public briefings will be posted on the county’s website at www.pinalcountyaz.gov and advertised in local countywide publications.
