Public input sought by city regarding skills and challenges for new city manager

52

The City of Maricopa is looking for community input in regards to the executive search for a new City Manager.

Ralph Anderson & Associates, the executive search firm leading the city manager recruitment, will guide participants through the hiring process, focusing on critical issues and roles of the position.

Public input will provide information on the issues and challenges to be faced by the new city manager; it is also helpful in gathering general information regarding desired experience, skills and personal characteristics. Many of the skills and experiences the new manager needs will be apparent from the challenges and the direction faced by city government. Additional attributes will contribute to a stronger “fit” with the city.

Following the forum, and input from City Council and the management team, Ralph Andersen will prepare a draft profile for the position brochure addressing the city organization, challenges, key duties of the City Manager, as well as a section “the ideal candidate” which will include major themes noted during the process. The final brochure will be available for the public.

Public input during this forum should focus specifically on the city manager recruitment. Any questions regarding specific issues in city government, staff or current events will be referred to the Interim City Manager’s office.
