Public turns out for VIN etching event

104

The City of Maricopa Police Association (COMPA) recently held its first vehicle indentification number etching and car seat safety event.

The free event brought dozens of Maricopa residents out to the Checker Auto Parts lot to learn about auto-theft prevention measures and to have their vehicles’ windows etched.

VIN etching is recommended by both the Arizona Automobile Theft Authority and the National Insurance Crime Bureau as one of the best vehicle-theft deterrent measures, creating a permanent vehicle fingerprint on every piece of window glass.

This event was sponsored by the Arizona Automobile Theft Authority, Checker Auto Parts of Maricopa, Sonic Drive-In of Maricopa, Winner International and Jeremiah Wipf of Liberty Mutual Insurance.

The public was treated to Sonic Drive-In drinks and meal discounts, as well as free giveaway items from the Automobile Theft Authority and Liberty Mutual Insurance. Watch for other VIN etching and vehicle-theft prevention events by COMPA in the coming months.
