Rams’ cross country team takes 2nd at invitational

Maricopa’s Chris Lessard’s first-place finish helped lead the Rams’ cross country team to second overall in the Poston Butte Invitational on Wednesday.

The Rams finished behind Notre Dame in the scoring. There were 100 runners in the nine-school tournament, according to Maricopa coach Duane Anderson.

Lessard clocked a time of 17:17 to earn top honors while teammate Travis Moore came in third overall with a time of 17:33. Other Rams placing were Gary Webb, 9th place, 18:12; Gibran Aguilar, 25th place, 19:20; Edson Robles, 27th place, 19:29. Also finishing were Jose Burrios, 22:07; Ahkyl Brown, 22:07; Dustin Carpenter, 22:44; David Hammons, 22:59; Alex Contreras, 23:53; JT Fletcher, 23:55; Joe Minea, 28:54; and Aztlan Carreras, 36:24.
