Assistant Democratic Leader Senator Rebecca Rios was awarded the highest distinction by the League of Arizona Cities and Towns during the league’s 2010 Annual Conference Legislative Luncheon held on Aug. 26 in Glendale.

For the fifth straight year, Sen. Rios received a “Champion of Cities and Towns Award” for extraordinary legislators that play a vital role in defending and supporting local governments.

“In order to help build Arizona’s economy back up, I believe we need to go into the state budget process with the understanding that anything we change down at the Capitol may directly effect how the cities are able to govern,” said Rios. “I look forward to continuing a dialogue with cities as we work together to rebuild the Arizona we all know and love.”

The League of Arizona Cities and Towns represents the 90 incorporated cities and towns in Arizona at the state legislature.
