Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputy Hank Mueller has shown how hard work and dedication pay off.

Employed by the sheriff’s office since February as a deputy sheriff recruit, Mueller successfully completed the academy at CARLOTA in May, graduating at the top of his class academically. He was also the recipient of the Clint Myers Physical Fitness Award for outstanding achievements in physical training.

Recently Mueller responded to a sexual assault call in the Maricopa area. He immediately took on the investigation, locating the remote desert location of the incident and recovering the suspect’s wallet, providing a positive ID on him when the victim only knew his first name. Mueller’s Field Training Officer, Deputy Matt McKenzie, said, “Deputy Mueller carries himself in a very professional manner when dealing with victims and suspects. He located an essential piece of evidence in a sexual assault case that was the key to solving the case.”

Mueller determined the sexual assault had taken place on the Gila River Indian reservation and was able to effectively communicate and provide them with all the evidence necessary to continue their investigation and successfully prosecute their case.

When asked to comment on his continued success, Mueller said, “It is my feeling that teamwork and communication are key when working to bring a case or any issue to a successful resolution. I have always wanted to be a deputy and, now that I have been provided the opportunity, I am committed to protecting Pinal County families and motivated to do my best to ensure justice is always served.”

Mueller will be on field training for several more weeks; then he will be on his own, serving the residents of Pinal County.

On July 14 Sheriff Paul Babeu presented Mueller with an official letter of commendation.

“I am very proud of how highly disciplined and motivated Deputy Mueller is. I expect we will see many more achievements from this fine deputy,” said Babeu.
