Central Arizona College’s Maricopa campus commenced its slate of fall college classes Friday with food trucks, games and other fun activities.

Carnival Day gave students and other community members a chance to watch Rango and enjoy bounce houses, a slide and a dunk tank.

For those who wanted to splurge on food and crafts, several local vendors and food trucks attended the event. Students were encouraged to don cowboy attire.

About 400 people showed up to the local college campus despite 110-degree heat.

“The carnival event at our Maricopa campus was part of our Welcome Week activities that took place across multiple campuses,” said Margot Almquist, a spokesperson for CAC.
