Maricopa Unified School District’s governing board will meet tonight to hear reports, approve travel, including an eighth grade end of the year field trip, and the personnel schedule, as well as salary schedules and work calendars for the 2010-2011 school year.

Krista Roden, the district’s curriculum director, will provide the board with an update on Maricopa Wells Middle School.  Tad Roberts, the M.A.S.H. anti-substance abuse coalition coordinator, will present information on the coalition’s mission and services.

Board members will be asked to approve the second reading of policy GCQA and the personnel schedule, which includes the hiring of a new football coach and high school social studies teacher, Cory Nenaber.

Proposed 2010-2011 salary schedules for both certified and classified district employees will come to the governing board members for approval.  The salary schedules are unchanged from the current year.

Board approval will be sought for proposed work calendars for employees working 9, 10, 11 or 12-month contracts.  Calendars for transportation, health office and food service workers, teachers and counselors will also be submitted, as will the governing board’s meeting schedule from August 2010 through July 2011.

Superintendent Jeff Kleck will be submitting a timeline for the establishment of an ad hoc advisory budget committee for the district, which the board will discuss.

Mike LaValle from Stone and Youngberg will be present to provide information on the district’s next bond sale.  The issuance and sale of additional school improvement bonds would provide funding to complete various projects such as the new transportation center.
