Santa Rosa Elementary recognizes outstanding students

During several recent assemblies at Santa Rosa Elementary School, staff members presented awards to the Students of the Month for April and gave special recognition to the school’s safety patrol program.

Students of the Month for April received a certificate and a pencil, an incentive to “keep up the good work.”

The Sun Valley Kiwanis Club presented the Terrific Kid awards. All Terrific Kid winners for the past school year are being given the opportunity to attend a pizza party at Peter Piper Pizza. They will have pizza, soda and game tokens provided for them.

Along with the Terrific Kid awards, special recognition was given to the Santa Rosa Safety Patrol. The Safety Patrol is a group of approximately 15 students who have good grades and behavior. These students assist during pick-up and drop-off times at the school, as well as patrolling the hallways before and after school. Safety Patrol members wear a bright yellow belt and hat as well as a badge.

Jeremy Newsham, Santa Rosa Student Council Advisor, had this to say about the Safety Patrol: “They are those extra eyes around the school, helping keep all the students safe. They are a vital part of our school, and they give those students involved a sense of ownership in the school.”
