If one of the neighbor children from Santa Rosa Elementary School recently knocked on your door with a Sally Foster catalog, you, undoubtedly, purchased various items. If you did, you should know that you contributed to a great fundraising success.

Santa Rosa Elementary students sold $22,000 worth of Sally Foster items! The results, tallied at the end of last month, indicated that the school would get 50% of the sales or $11,000.

Fifth graders in Felicia Williams‘s class sold the most items. They were the lucky recipients of a pizza party Thursday, sponsored in part by the Native New Yorker restaurant and owner, Pat Kieny.

One member of that fifth grade class sold $788.50 worth of products all by himself. Deven Garay won a portable stereo with speakers for his outstanding effort.

“The Santa Rosa Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is really excited about the outcome. Way to GO, Scorpions!” said PTO president, Inez Ramirez. She indicated that the monies would be used to buy shades for the playground equipment. This has been an ongoing PTO project since last year.

Ramirez added, “A big thank you to all the students, parents, faculty and community members who supported the Santa Rosa PTO in this fundraiser. We would also like to thank PTO member Marni Savoy for all of her hard work in chairing this project.”

As the pizza party was under way, Principal Rick Abel made an exciting announcement to the class. D. L. Withers Construction and its project manager, David Bradley, will be donating the sunshades to Santa Rosa Elementary School. D. L. Withers built Pima Butte Elementary, which opened at the beginning of the school year.

The $11,000 will now enable the PTO to provide supplies and materials for students and their classroom teachers at Santa Rosa.

In other news, the PTO held their first Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins on September 23. Paul Koury, Baskin Robbins owner, donated 20% of the evening’s profits to the school.

A second Scoop Night is planned for Friday, October 28, from 6 until 10 p.m. Come to Baskin Robbins and have Principal Abel and the Santa Rosa teachers dip ice cream for you.

Santa Rosa’s PTO will meet on Monday, October 24, at the school. Parents and grandparents are invited to attend – and to join the PTO. For further information, contact President Inez Ramirez by email or by calling (520) 568-4428.
