More than 30 students, parents and community members volunteered their hair in the name of cancer research on Wednesday morning at Pima Butte Elementary School.

The donations were part of the school’s Bald for Bucks and Locks of Love campaigns.

The Bald for Bucks promotion encouraged community members to raise funds by shaving their head. Pima Butte was able to raise more than $2,000 through the program for cancer research.

Locks of Love takes students’ ponytails and transforms them into hair pieces for cancer patients.

“We are very proud of our students, staff and others who took part in this event,” said Matt Montoya, principal of the school.
