STOLEN THRONE: Toilet theft sends man to jail

Reports of a stolen toilet and air conditioning unit translated into felony charges for one 24-year-old Maricopa man.

Cops plunged into their investigation weeks ago, but finally cracked the porcelain case Thursday.

A woman who lives near Taft and Honeycutt Avenues first told cops her household appliances were stolen around July 14. She had a hunch about who did it, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa detailing the incident.

Police said Jayson Francisco Tyler Roberts admitted to “removing” appliances from the Taft Avenue home at 2 a.m. one night in mid-July and sending them away in another man’s pickup truck.

Roberts’ relationship to the homeowner is unclear — but he admitted she previously refused to give him the unit because she was selling her home.

He said he wasn’t sure where the air conditioner ended up.

Maricopa Police Department officers arrested Roberts at his home on a felony burglary charge and booked him into the Pinal County jail.
