Team Province raising money to fight diabetes

Last March Team Province, riders from the Province Bike Club and their friends from Maricopa’s Province active adult community, completed the 35-mile route of the Tour de Cure for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). They raised over $3,400 in donations from family, friends and business associates.

The annual Tour de Cure is one of the top fundraising events in the Phoenix and Tucson areas for the ADA. Last March in Phoenix riders completed tours of 10, 35 and 62.5 miles, raising over $240,000 for the research and education programs of the ADA.

This year Team Province has eight members, who will ride under the leadership of Keith Monk, the top team fundraiser in 2008. The team will be participating in both the 35 and 62.5-mile routes on March 14, 2009.

The team’s goal for the 2009 event is to raise over $5,000 in donations for the ADA.
