If you’re looking for a neighborhood where clothing is optional and nobody cares, a 1.28-acre property just west of Maricopa might be the desert Garden of Eden you want, no fig leaf required.

Onya Foreman, a Maricopa real estate agent with Sloan Realty Associates, is upfront about the land she’s selling. Her candor comes at the owner’s request.

Foreman said the owner wants full exposure about the fact the land is squarely inside the Bar None Ranch Nudist Community, which is a mix of older, rough-around-the-edges and newer, nicer ranch houses and RVs.

“It’s probably not as exciting as you hoped,” Foreman told InMaricopa about the north Hidden Valley community of sand and brush on West Beat Street, south of State Route 238.

Beat Street is Bar None’s main drag. It’s not so much a street as a dirt road that gets a bit rutted and puddled those few times a year when rain falls.

“Most residents in the area are above retirement age,” Foreman said. “Grandma might garden without a top on.”

For $75,000, the land is yours — a semi-private place to stroll around, naked as the day you were born. And no one will complain, possibly because the residents have given you fair warning.

“Complaints regarding nudity will be met with harassment charges,” the sign entering the community states.

Foreman said the bare land for sale comes with utility hookups and ground good for a septic system. There are panoramic mountain views and the site is close to a golf course, sky diving, glider plane flying and ATV trails, although these recreational options require clothes.

The nudist community was established in 1997.

Foreman said skydiving groups come through the neighborhood and stop to pose in front of the sign that tells visitors to love it or leave it.

The locals are rather reclusive and avoided answering the door when an unknown InMaricopa reporter came a-knockin’.

This quaint, weathered wooden sign (top) greets you at the entrance to bar None Ranch. Venture a little further and you’ll encounter a newer, sterner sign that threatens legal action if you can’t get down with the nudists. [Jeff Chew]
