Christian Galvan was having a bad night, one that literally drove him to tears.
The 21-year-old Maricopa man was found weeping near the wreckage of his vehicle. He was inside a tow truck just past 11 p.m. Wednesday “hands up crying uncontrollably,” Maricopa police reported in a probable cause statement.
Police said Galvan drove his car into a street sign, through a fence and into several vehicles impounded inside A&R Towing Yard, 19241 N. Maricopa Road.
Upon further investigation, police said they suspected the problem was “emanating” from Galvan’s breath, an alcoholic beverage, enough to pop a .150 blood-alcohol level at the scene, about double the legal limit.
He had poor balance, officers said. They accompanied him for a blood sample at a medical facility before booking him into the Pinal County Jail.
He faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, criminal damage up to $10,000, plus criminal nuisance.
He faces more than five years in jail and some stiff fines.
