Traffic Task Force ready to establish its short and long-term goals Thursday

Maricopa’s Traffic Task Force will hold its second meeting on Thursday to formulate a mission statement, as well as to establish written protocols and both short and long-term goals. The agenda follows:

4. Unfinished Business

4.1 Written Protocols. The committee shall discuss the protocols by which the Task Force shall operate (see below). Discussion.

4.2 Mission Statement. The committee shall establish a mission statement. Discussion and Recommendation to Public Safety Committee.

4.3 Traffic Task Force Short-Term Goals. The committee shall begin to set short-term goals (local, easily identifiable, easily resolved) that are reasonably obtainable. Discussion and Recommendation to Public Safety Committee.

4.4 Traffic Task Force Long-Term Goals. The committee shall begin to set long-term goals (regional, engineering solutions) that are reasonably obtainable. Discussion and Recommendation to Public Safety Committee.

4.5 Education. The committee shall begin discussion of recommendations to Public Safety Committee regarding educating motorists and pedestrians regarding traffic safety. Discussion and Recommendation to Public Safety Committee.

4.6 Additional Members. The committee shall discuss inviting individuals who could provide input (ADOT, Ak-Chin, GRIT) to join the task force. Discussion and Action.

5. New and Miscellaneous Business

5.1 New Issues. The committee shall discuss new public safety issues of which city staff should be aware. Discussion.

5.2 Next Meeting. Thursday, October 12, 2006.

6. Call to the Public

The procedures to follow if you address the Committee are: Committee requests that you express your ideas in five minutes or less and refrain from any personal attacks or derogatory statements about any City employee, a fellow citizen, or anyone else, whether in the audience or not. The Chair will limit discussion whenever he deems such an action appropriate to the proper conduct of the meeting.
