Union Pacific crossing detours begin Friday

Union Pacific Railroad will be upgrading several crossings in the city of Maricopa over a period of several weeks beginning Dec. 17.

The Hartman, White and Parker, and Porter crossings will be closed with alternate detours provided in collaboration with the city.

The crossings are being closed as part of an ongoing track improvement and maintenance project that will support America’s current and future freight transportation needs and enhance the safety and efficiency of the railroad’s 32,000-mile network.

Crossing Closure Schedule:

Hartman Road

  • The Hartman Road crossing will be closed Dec.17 through Dec. 23.
  • Asphalt paving is scheduled for Dec. 20 and 22.

White & Parker Road

  • The White & Parker Road crossing will be closed Jan. 4 through Jan. 6, and Jan. 11 through Jan. 17.
  • Track work will be completed Jan. 6. The crossing will be open on gravel under traffic control from Jan. 7 through Jan. 10.
  • Asphalt paving will be scheduled for Jan. 15 and 16.

Porter Road

  • The Porter Road crossing will be closed from Jan. 8 through Jan. 10.
  • Track work will be complete on Jan. 9. Asphalt patching will be complete on Jan. 10.
  • Porter Road will be opened to traffic on Jan. 11.
  • Right lane closures will be used daily through Jan. 16 to complete curb and sidewalk work.

All crossings: Pavement markings will be paint only until the middle of February. Thermoplastic will be applied 30 days after the completion of paving.

Temporary signs will be installed at the completion of all projects.
