UPRR closing Porter, Hartman Roads for track maintenance

101

Union Pacific Railroad will be re-setting panels at several crossings in Maricopa during the next several weeks, beginning April 19.

The Hartman and Porter crossings will be closed with alternate detours provided in collaboration with the city of Maricopa.

The crossings are being closed as part of an ongoing track improvement and maintenance project that will support America’s current and future freight transportation needs and enhance the safety and efficiency of the railroad’s 32,000-mile network.

Improved and additional rail capacity benefits everyone. It allows freight rail service to grow, helping to build a cleaner environment. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, freight trains are nearly four times more fuel efficient than trucks. Motorists also benefit from reduced congestion on highways as a single Union Pacific train can remove up to 300 trucks off our roads.

Crossing Closure Schedule:

Porter Road: The Porter Road crossing will be closed from April 19-22. The crossing will be undergoing a re-setting of the concrete panels for the newly constructed second line. Asphalt patching is scheduled for April 22, and Porter Road will be re-opened late that day.

Hartman Road: The Hartman Road crossing will be closed April 29-May 4. The crossing will be undergoing maintenance and a re-setting of the concrete panels for the newly constructed second line. Asphalt patching is scheduled for May 4, and Hartman Road will be re-opened late that day.
