Women pulled from submerged van ID’d

The Maricopa Police Department has identified the two occupants of a vehicle that plunged into a local lake.

MPD spokesman Ricardo Alvarado reports Bernadette Rose Lopez , 59, and Eileen Olive Brown, 46, are both still alive, but their condition is unknown.

They were traveling in a Chevy Venture van when it left the roadway on Rancho Mirage Boulevard and went into the lake near Honeycutt Road at 8:39 a.m. today.

Police officers and firefighters went into the water to free Lopez and then returned to extricate Brown.
