Most notably, the zoning board will consider an expansion of the APEX Motorsports facility.

The proposed APEX expansion would include five new buildings on the northeastern portion of the property along Ralston Road. The project narrative stated the one-story buildings would total more than 70,000 square feet of garage space for vehicle storage and maintenance.

Additional discussion points include the proposed John Wayne Parkway West commercial development, comprising seven commercial buildings on the southwestern corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue.

The city hasn’t announced which businesses are planned for the area, but a project narrative shows the buildings range in size from 2,400 to 6,000 square feet. A preliminary site and landscape plan shows at least one of the buildings may have a drive-thru lane.

The board will also review a request to build a smaller commercial center across the street on the southeastern corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue. It would sit just south of Maricopa Station, which was acquired by Phoenix developer Thompson Thrift in July.

Plans for this development include two buildings for retail and restaurant space with a drive-thru lane.

The board will hear public comments at the beginning of the meeting and as city staff present each permit. The meeting will take place tomorrow at 6 p.m. in Maricopa City Hall.
