
A new neighborhood with hundreds of homes could be in store for Maricopa.
Maricopa’s Planning and Zoning Commission will discuss the early stages of a new master-planned community during a meeting this evening at city hall.
Developer CVL Consultants requested the city set aside about 560 acres at Murphy and Steen Roads for a master-planned community and business park.
Dubbed Murphy Park, it would hold about 320 single-family homes.
Metro Phoenix, which includes Maricopa, is amid its worst housing crisis in history as the region demands more than a quarter-million new homes.
Other items on the PZ committee agenda include a presentation and discussion on the city’s trails master plan, the redevelopment of Maricopa’s Heritage District and commercial development on John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue.
