200+ Nativity Scenes to be Displayed at Community Christmas Open House

45

Maricopa Christmas celebrations commence this Friday with Christmas music and hundreds of Nativity scenes at the fourth annual Nativity Night. The free, non-denominational event will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. December 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 45234 West Honeycutt Road (across from the high school).

The purpose of the event is “to unite those who believe in Jesus Christ, bring culture into our lives through music and art, and promote the true spirit of the season.” Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. The musical program will begin at 7 p.m.

Margaret Jackson, a Maricopa resident since 1999, is chairing this year’s open house and expects 200-300 people to attend. Other volunteer committee members include:
Chris Bahr
Sherrie Bishop
Sherri Castle
Ken Scott
Susan Scott
Kevin Snow
Debbie Sherwood
Kimball Sherwood

The volunteer support is critical to the event’s success, according to Jackson: “There are many others I could not begin to name that are helping with making refreshments, donating nativities for a day and volunteering time to set up and clean up.”

If you have a Nativity scene or other Christmas related arts and crafts you’d like to display during the open house, bring them to the church Thursday evening. More information is available calling Margaret Jackson at 568-4585 or Kevin Snow at 568-2505.
