Maricopa’s inaugural Cub Scout Pack is hosting a “Round Up” Monday, August 15, to introduce boys and their parents to the excitement of America’s foremost youth program for boys. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the Villages of Rancho El Dorado community center and will offer games and contests for the boys and a chance for parents to meet the pack’s leaders. Both kids and parents will learn more about scouting and have a chance to sign-up to be a member of Pack 997 (see related story).

src=“Everyone is welcome to visit during Monday night’s Cub Scout Round Up,” said Matt Jamieson, a Pack 997 Den Leader and father of Ethan, pictured at right. “It is a great opportunity for parents and their sons to meet current Cub Scouts, the Den Leaders and Pack Leaders for Pack 997.”

The Boy Scouts of America is composed of 1.27 million volunteers working together for the sole purpose of helping its more than 3 million youth succeed in life. Cub Scouting combines outdoor activities, sports, academics and more in a fun and exciting program that helps families teach ideals such as honesty, good citizenship and respect.

“We are looking for boys who are in 1st through 5th grade who like to hike, bike, camp and just have fun in a family-orientated environment,” according to the chair of Cub Scout Pack 997, Joanna Ferguson.
