Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Luis Gonzalez, Steve Finley, Ken Griffey, Jr. and… you? That’s right, August 22, 2004 will mark “Maricopa Day” at Bank One Ballpark and feature not only some of the world’s best baseball players, but hundreds of Maricopa residents.

Ms. Deb Bricker, development manager for El Dorado Holdings, Inc., presented a donation of approximately 1,000 tickets to the City at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Ms. Bricker said the gesture is “our way of saying thanks for being part of the community.”

Not only will hundreds of residents receive free tickets to watch the hometown Arizona Diamondbacks play the Cincinnati Reds, but Maricopa’s own will also entertain the tens of thousands of fans at Bank One Ballpark. Twenty student-musicians from the Maricopa Elementary School brass band and chorus group will perform the National Anthem and one lucky resident will get to throw out the first pitch.

The City, Maricopa Rotary Club and El Dorado Homeowners Association will work together to distribute the complimentary tickets. Appropriately, there will be an emphasis on providing our youth (and their parents!) complimentary tickets and additional tickets will likely be available for sale in the Maricopa section as well.

inmaricopa.com will post additional details as they become available.
