A four-vehicle crash on John Wayne Parkway north of Cobblestone Farms Drive resulted in two injuries Thursday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., Maricopa police and fire crews responded to a report of a multi-vehicle crash collision.

“A passenger vehicle driving south on 347 rear-ended a semi-truck at the location, causing major damage to the passenger vehicle,” said public safety spokesperson Monica Williams.

A third vehicle driving south on 347 swerved to avoid the collision and “overturned and crossed into the northbound lanes of 347,” she said.

The vehicle that crossed the median collided with another car traveling northbound. A white Toyota Crown rolled over the median into the northbound lanes, landing near a grading tractor in the construction zone. A Safelite AutoGlass van was also seen damaged in the northbound lanes.

Two people sustained “minor to moderate injuries” and were transported to area hospitals for treatment, Williams said.

A preliminary police investigation suggests that intoxication was not a factor in the multi-vehicle crash in road construction.

Traffic was blocked in both directions for an unknown period, Williams said.
