November's 2nd Saturday market was so popular, produce ran out early. This weekend, the city plans twice as much produce. Photo by Donna Atkins

Featuring twice as much produce as last month’s event, the Second Saturday Market will return to Copper Sky Regional Park this weekend.

Last month, hundreds of Maricopa residents were able to purchase as much as 60 pounds of produce for $10 during the Second Saturday Market. The event was so popular among locals the food stands ran out of products quickly.

The increase in food is expected to bring more people to the market, and that requires more volunteers to help hand out produce. In an effort to keep lines moving, the city is offering incentives for members of the community who volunteer to work the event.

According to a statement from the city, “There will be twice as much produce this weekend and the city needs volunteers to help distribute. Volunteers will be provided with produce free of charge.”

To be a volunteer, contact Karie Karpes from Maricopa Community Services at [email protected] or show up at Copper Sky at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
