1493

A Maricopa man faces a pair of domestic violence charges after police said he threw a half-filled can of beer at his sleeping wife, hitting her in the head.

Gustavo Romero was arrested and booked into the Pinal County jail Nov. 26 after his wife, Maria Loures-Romero, told Maricopa police she was lying in bed at the couple’s North Castille Drive home. She told police Romero was “highly intoxicated” and struck her in the back of the head with a beer can.

Police noted beer splashed on the bed and the can was found nearby.

The charges are punishable by one year in jail and fines of up to $6,100.
