Motorists should plan for ramp closures and lane restrictions on State Route 143 and Interstate 10 through Saturday morning, according to Arizona Department of Transportation. The work is part of ADOT’s  I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

The southbound ramp to westbound I-10 from SR 143 will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday for paving. ADOT recommends using southbound SR 143/48th Street to Broadway Road and traveling west on Broadway to northbound 40th Street to access westbound I-10.

A new closure has been added to work previously announced by ADOT. Northbound SR143/48th Street will be closed from Broadway to I-10 from 8 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday for barrier repairs.

ADOT recommends these detours to avoid the closure:

  • Eastbound I-10/northbound SR 143 traffic should use eastbound I-10 to eastbound U.S. 60, to northbound Loop 101/Price Freeway, to westbound Loop 202/Red Mountain Freeway.
  • The detour for northbound SR 143/48th Street travelers is eastbound Broadway, to northbound Priest Drive, to the Red Mountain Freeway.

Eastbound I-10 will be reduced to two lanes from 40th Street to 48th Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge work.

These ramps also will be closed:

  • Southbound SR 143 loop ramp to eastbound I-10. Drivers can continue south on 48th Street to Broadway and use the eastbound I-10 on-ramp.
  • Eastbound I-10 off- and on-ramps at 40th Street. Drivers can use eastbound I-10 off-ramp at 48th Street and eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
