Arizona Department of Transportation will present findings of a road safety study at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center.

The June 15 meeting will focus on the results from a safety study that covers State Route 347 between Maricopa city limits and Interstate 10. In particular, the study will highlight accident trends at the intersection of SR347 and Riggs Road.

This intersection had “the fourth highest number of collisions for a signalized intersection on a state highway in Arizona,” according to preliminary information released from the study. The meeting will provide accident and collision data, which includes crash factors, peak times and common driver behaviors.

Mayor Nancy Smith encouraged public attendance calling it an opportunity to “hear directly from ADOT” about concerns around SR347.

“Equipped with this information graciously provided by ADOT, drivers will have a better understanding of how to get their families home safely every day,” Smith said.

The meeting will be held in the library’s Redwood Room. Seating is limited.
