An electrifying car crash turned a Maricopa intersection into a four-way stop this afternoon.

Shortly before 1 p.m., a vehicle crashed into an electrical box near the Honeycutt and Porter Roads, according to police spokesperson Monica Williams.

Damage from the accident caused the traffic lights at that intersection to lose power.

Maricopa police responded to assist with traffic control measures until the city’s team could install temporary stop signs.

The stop signs will remain in place until a municipal crew restores power to the traffic signals.

Williams said drivers should treat the intersection as a four-way stop. She encouraged motorists to be cautious when passing through this afternoon.

Updates will be provided as they become available.
