Agventure for Maricopans this week

34

Agventure, a tour of the University of Arizona’s Maricopa Agriculture Center, is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26.

Part of the Experience Pinal County program, which is co-sponsored by the Maricopa Friends of the Library and the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce, the Agventure will begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Attendees should meet at the Maricopa library to carpool to the center.

Admission to the daylong program is $20, which includes lunch. The tour includes speakers, a tour of the farm, its experimental arid land studies and Arizona agricultural products. Due to the length of the program, it is recommended for adults only.

Those interested in attending the event should contact the Chamber today at (520) 568-9573 as reservations are needed for the luncheon.

Next month’s destination will be the Leaf and Feather Farm on Saturday, March 28. To register, residents should contact the Chamber. The tour will leave at 9:30 a.m., returning to the library at 1 p.m. Lunch at the Raceway restaurant on Papago Road will be on your own, but otherwise there is no cost for this tour. It is appropriate for children as well as adults, although some walking is involved.

In addition, the Friends of the Library today resumed their every Tuesday Coffee on the Porch at the Maricopa library. Stop by for coffee, a cookie and some conversation before or after checking out the books in the library’s extensive collection.
