Relay for Life kick-off set for Saturday

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Maricopa walk will kick-off Saturday in partnership with UltraStar Multi-tainment Center.

The event will run 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include light refreshments and gift cards to the complex’s arcade.

Participants can register their teams at a discounted rate and get more information about the April 26 relay to be held at city's new Copper Sky Recreation Complex at John Wayne Parkway and Bowlin Road. The complex is set to open in March.

This year’s fundraising goal is $80,000; more than $50,000 was raised last year.

Sixty years ago, one out of three people diagnosed with cancer survived. Today, thanks in part to the work of the American Cancer Society, two out of three will survive.
