City Manager Brenda Fischer announced two key leadership selections. Danielle Casey has been named assistant city manager and Jennifer Campbell has been named community services director.

“I am thrilled to announce these appointments,” Fischer said. “In order to provide excellent service to our community, the city needs strong leadership in key positions, such as these. Ms. Casey and Ms. Campbell have the experience, skill set, and passion to serve the public and to take our organization to the next level of success.”

Casey is currently the city’s economic development director.  She will assume the role of assistant city manager on April 23 and will oversee the Community Services, Development Services and Economic Development departments.

“During the interview process, Ms. Casey’s experience, education, enthusiasm, dedication, and love for the City of Maricopa set her above the other candidates,” Fischer said.  “I am confident that in her new capacity, she is going to continue to serve the city with excellent results.  Her experience as economic development director will strengthen our efforts and coordination between the departments she will lead.”

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected to serve in such a vital role for the city of Maricopa,” Casey said. “I accept this position with great humility and a strong will to succeed. We have an extremely talented team and I’m excited to serve with them in this new capacity. Together, under the direction of City Manager Fischer, our organization will continue to implement the city council’s vision to make Maricopa’s prosperous future a reality.”

Casey, a Maricopa resident since 2004, joined the city of Maricopa in June 2005. As economic development director, she is responsible for the management of the city’s economic development efforts, as well as overseeing all city marketing and communications activities. During her tenure as director, Casey managed a number of tasks including the creation of the Industrial Development Authority, the city’s Business Retention and Expansion Program and the recently adopted Economic Development Strategic Plan.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University, a master's of administration degree from Northern Arizona University, and is a certified economic developer and a certified economic development finance professional. She is a member of the International Economic Development Council, an executive board member for Arizona Association of Economic Development, the Pinal Partnership Economic Development Committee and the CoreNet Global Young Leaders Group.  In 2010, she received the “Economic Developer of the Year-Small Community” award from AAED.

The City has begun the recruitment for Casey’s replacement as economic development director and the position is posted on the city’s website, www.maricopa-az.gov.

Campbell has been named community services director and will begin on April 30. She presently serves as parks and recreation superintendent for the city of Goodyear. She has been with Goodyear since 2001, serving in various roles in the Parks and Recreation Department. She has held that position since 2008.
