Are you leaving Maricopa this weekend? If you are, be prepared for a slew of delays along Interstate 10 and U.S. 60/Superstition Freeway. Arizona Department of Transportation advises Valley travelers to plan alternate routes and allow extra time.

Westbound I-10 is closed from U.S. 60 to 32nd Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. Crews with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will make traffic shifts in preparation for opening the new Broadway Road bridge over I-10.

The following ramps will be closed:

  • Westbound U.S. 60 to westbound I-10.
  • Southbound State Route 143/Hohokam Freeway to westbound I-10.
  • Westbound 1-10 on-ramps at Elliot Road, Baseline Road, Broadway Road and 40th Street.
  • Westbound U.S. 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue.
  • Eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway Road.

As a detour, use eastbound Loop 202/Santan Freeway or eastbound U.S. 60 to northbound Loop 101/Price Freeway, to westbound Loop 202/Red Mountain Freeway to reconnect with westbound I-10.

Drivers heading to the West Valley can bypass the work zone by using Loop 202/South Mountain Freeway from Chandler/Ahwatukee west and north to reconnect with I-10 at 59th Avenue.

Motorists westbound on I-10 and U.S. 60 heading to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport should head north on Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 and use the Sky Harbor Boulevard entrance.

Drivers will begin using the new Broadway Road bridge over I-10 on Monday when westbound I-10 reopens. The existing Broadway Road bridge will be permanently closed and eventually razed.
