InMaricopa.com, Monitor host candidate debate

Candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, Pinal County sheriff and Pinal County Board of Supervisors, District 4, will meet 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 21 to talk about the issues in the run-up to the Aug. 28 primary election.

InMaricopa.com and the Maricopa Monitor are co-hosting the free forum.

The event will be broken into three, one-hour debates, with the candidates for Congressional District 1 scheduled to go first, followed by the supervisor candidates and the sheriff candidates rounding out the event.

The event will be moderated by InMaricopa.com associate editor Christia Gibbons and Monitor managing editor Adam Gaub.

Both media outlets are encouraging residents to submit questions for the candidates. Those questions can be sent to [email protected] or [email protected] by Friday for potential inclusion in the event.

Candidates in Congressional District 1 are: Republicans Jonathan Paton, of Oro Valley; Douglas Wade, of Sedona; Patrick Gatti, of Show Low and Gaither Martin, of Eagar; Democrats Ann Kirkpatrick, of Flagstaff; and Wenona Benally Baldenegro, of Flagstaff. Libertarian Anthony Prowell is running unopposed.

Candidates in the board of supervisors, District 4 race, are: Republicans Anthony Smith, of Maricopa; Nancy Discher, of Oro Valley; Fred MacKenzie, of Saddlebrooke; and Ray Petrulsky, of Arizona City. Democrat Henry Wade, of Maricopa, is running unopposed.
