Carl’s Jr. is not too far away from making its Maricopa comeback.

First announced in late 2021, the fast-food chain plans to open a location on a vacant lot between Maricopa Animal Hospital and Rili B’s Taco Shop, at 20015 N. John Wayne Pkwy.

A spokesperson for SimonCRE, the commercial real-estate developer based out of Scottsdale, gave InMaricopa an estimated opening date.

“We are starting construction later this year, and it looks like the current estimation for opening would be Q2 of 2024,“ Content Marketing Manager Nick Robello said in an email.

The restaurant will re-join the lineup of national fast-food chains on John Wayne Parkway which includes Taco Bell, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King and Sonic.

Carl’s Jr. previously operated a restaurant in Maricopa at the location of the current Wendy’s, at 21000 N. John Wayne Parkway. That location closed its doors in December 2018.
