Your high school student is eligible to attend college for a minimal cost if he or she has completed either the sophomore, junior or senior year at a Pinal County high school, resides in Pinal County and meets the in-state eligibility requirements for attending CentralArizona College.

The First Step Summer Program is an opportunity for students to enroll in up to seven college credits at CAC for free. That’s right –no tuition charges. The only costs incurred by the student will be for books. Students who have participated previously in First Step do not need to take the placement assessment and may proceed directly to walk-in registration.

Additional features of the program are:

• Students can take any class they are interested in, provided they have the appropriate placement scores: English, Math, Social Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Art, etc.
• Students may be eligible to earn dual high school/college credits.
• Most classes only last 5-8 weeks
• Students can earn up to 21 credits (7 each semester)

The summer session begins May 31, and orientation dates vary by campus and center.
