City accepting applications for Solar Rebate Program

The city of Maricopa’s new solar rebate program is designed to encourage the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential or commercial buildings.

The city will provide a monetary rebate incentive of 60 cents per DC watt installed, up to $3,000 per household or commercial building.
 
To be eligible:

  • Property must be within city of Maricopa limits 
  • Property must be a residential home or commercial business 
  • System installed must be a photovoltaic system 
  • Property must be served by Electrical District #3 
  • Applicant must have been added to the ED#3 “Active Queue List” prior to applying to the city
  • Applicant applying for the rebate must be the owner

Program requirements:

  • Customers must fulfil all program requirements to be eligible for the incentive
  • There shall be only one rebate per household or commercial building 
  • A completed application must be submitted to the city prior to a permit being issued 
  • Customer must comply with all Planning and Building safety requirements
  • Customer must provide an approval document of system acceptance into the applicable ED#3 Solar Power Plan program
  • Customers participating in the program must be willing to submit monthly energy logs to track energy savings for at least one year. If this commitment is not met, the customer shall refund the entire amount of incentive rebate funds to the city 
  • System must be interconnected to an ED#3 electric meter 
  • Customer must participate and comply with all requirements of the ED#3 Solar Power Plan program
  • Customer shall submit a copy of the initial estimate and, once installed, a copy of the dated sales receipt to be eligible for the rebate. The receipt must note the contractor’s name and address, the manufacturer’s name, PV and inverter model numbers, system size and purchase price
