Pinal County’s Firefighter of the Year earned the distinction through service in Maricopa.

Paul Neumann, who has worked for Maricopa Fire Department for about a year, has experience working in fire service in various capacities and has serving his community with excellence for more than decade.

After joining the Maricopa Fire Department, Neumann was asked to assist the Division of Fire Prevention with Public Education. He has taken a basic program and turned it into a success.

Neumann, and his fellow firefighters, visited more than 4,000 students during fire prevention week, teaching the importance of fire safety. In addition, he has created a walk-in public education program allowing requests from the public for everything from fire extinguisher training to fire station visits and tours.

Neumann also created the “After the Loss” brochure for engine crews to give families when they have lost a loved one.

All of these projects are in addition to his normal duties as a firefighter/paramedic serving the citizens of the community.

Neumann conducts his assigned tasks with a professional attitude and motivation that goes above and beyond the call of duty. His positive attitude is disseminated throughout our ranks and has instilled the same type of interest with regard to public education among all of our line firefighters.

Neumann was selected from among 10 nominees throughout Pinal County. The award was presented in late May.
