Crash blocks John Wayne southbound traffic

Expect the drive home this afternoon to be a little slower than usual.

Maricopa police and fire crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at approximately 3:20 p.m. on John Wayne Parkway and Cobblestone Farms Drive. The crash involving a pickup truck and a minivan closed two southbound lanes, causing traffic to back up past Casa Blanca Road, according to AZ511.

Crews began to move vehicles around 4 p.m., however, police spokesperson Monica Williams said commuters “will be impacted.”

Police did not confirm if any injuries occurred in the crash, but paramedics were seen attending to three children at the scene.
