Deadline looms for CAC scholarship program

The deadline for Pinal County eighth-graders to enroll in Central Arizona College’s Promise for the Future Scholarship program is approaching.

Students, along with their parents and/or guardians, must jointly sign a commitment contract and return it to CAC or their middle school guidance office by May 29.

The Promise for the Future program waives tuition for four semesters at CAC for students that sign up and graduate from a Pinal County high school with a minimum grade point average of 2.75.

Students must then enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per semester at any of CAC’s nine campuses or centers, maintain a 2.50 GPA, be continuously enrolled at the college and complete a minimum of nine credits each semester.

Through 2008, more than 7,000 Pinal County students have enrolled in the program, which started in 2001. This academic year, 106 of 361 eligible students entered CAC for their first year of college.
